I hold a Bachelors Degree in art therapy from Mount Mary College and a
Master of Fine Art Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
My work has been
shown at the Cudahy Gallery (when it was at the Milwaukee Art Museum),
Watercolor Wisconsin at the Mustum Museum in Racine and shows sponsored
by Wisconsin Painters and Sculptures. |

| I
specialize in watercolors. Its spontaneity suits my personality. I love
the fact that the surface on which I paint (the paper) is the white of
the painting. (I wouldn't think of using white paint.) I also enjoy the
flow of the paint. I sometimes choose to paint in a very controlled
manner and other times I use the natural flow of the paint in my
decision making.
When I was painting my freeway series it was very important to
visual idea that the paintings were done in a very controlled clean
manner. Although I enjoyed doing the freeways at the time I realized
that the controlled hard edges go against my natural way of
painting. So I went in search of a new subject. |

The lake where we spend are vacation was my next inspiration. My first
idea was water surface and depth and how when we look into water we may
see the surface. Looking into the water there are many small fish. For
the past few years I have been working on the fish. Besides the surface
and depth of the water I try to show the movement of the fish in my
paintings.
Almost all of my paintings are atmospheric in expression. I like
them to be peaceful and easy to look at. |

In
the last few months I have been experimenting with different kind of
paper. At the time of writing I am struggling with papers that
disintegrate easily but also take the color in a more vibrant and
exciting way. I am nor sure where this experimentation will lead me.
Often new ways of working open up new means of expression, I hope this
is the case with me.
